Yes, I know this is my first post (we’re LIVE baby!) and that we’ve just met, but…I want you to close your eyes and do a little visualisation exercise with me.
Imagine your ideal day – one that would be a perfect 10 on the scale of great days. Go through the routine you’d follow; you’d wake up at 8 or 9 o’clock, only when your body was fully rested and the sun was out.
You would then brew yourself a cup of your favourite Costa-Rican coffee, and sip it whilst catching up on your favourite websites, or reading a couple of chapters of that book that’s gripped you.
After some luxurious breakfast, you’d go for a leisurely stroll in the forest or the beach (or your go-to strolling place). You’d think about the many people you know, who would be working hard at their jobs at that very moment, having spent an hour in rush-hour traffic and stressing over the next deadline and their unreasonable boss.
None of that for you! You are free to do as you please.
After a healthy but yummy lunch with your partner, you decide to go meet some friends and go watch the latest Tarantino film – they say it’s better than Pulp Fiction!
After the film, you go back home and check how your online business has done over the day. You love what you have created, and it works like clockwork without you. You don’t even need the money it generates, but you do it for fun.
In the evening, you end your perfect day by playing with your children and your dog and you have the certainty that life doesn’t get much better than this.
A day like this may seem like a utopian, unreachable pipe dream to you. But I’m here to tell you that this could happen every single day for you if you were financially independent.
What Exactly is Financial Independence?
I’m glad you asked, as it’s the beating heart of this blog.
Financial Independence – or FI, its shortened version – is the ideal situation where you have enough income-generating assets to sustain your expenses without having to work ever again. And it’s very doable by the average person.
If you had never heard of this concept before, you may need to sit down for a minute. It’s heavy.
Many people have done it, and they are now the owners of their time, and therefore their lives. If they have done it, so can you.
I will teach you how to do it. I’m a teach-by-example kinda guy, so I’ll show you my own journey towards financial independence so you can learn what works and what doesn’t.
The Three Keys To Become Financially Independent
The ingredients are simple:
- Earn money
- Save part of it
- Make that money grow
That’s it.
If you can earn enough money, save a large proportion of it, and then invest it so that it grows over time, you’ll never have to work again if you don’t want to. This process becomes even quicker if you already have some savings stashed away.
Make sure you check out my Financial Independence Calculator, which will tell you exactly how far this would be for you, based on your income, spending, and savings.
Of course, it all comes down to how much you spend and how much money you can make. Over the coming months, I will show you how to master each one of those key areas, as well as the strategy that I’m following to become financially independent myself.
